Hawaiian Shirt Friday (but not today)

Jimmy Buffet hits SC 03/02/2010

Jimmy Buffet having some fun

If there were too many Hawaiian shirts around Colombia, and it’s NOT Friday, can funny hats be far behind?

The king of easy-on-the-ears Jimmy Buffett brought his tropical smorgasbord to the Colonial Life Arena in South Carolina last Tuesday.

Perhaps it’s time to give this guy his due, he’s good at his job, he’s got a rabid following, and admit it. You like him. His songs may not rock the stadium, but there’s no whining and alot of heart. Kind of like tropical country music.

Tropical country as a new genre? You heard it here first, folks.

Besides, it is hard (but not impossible) to be cheesed off at life if you sit all the way through “Margaritaville”.

As for me, I won’t be wearing a Hawaiian shirt today, I have a funeral to attend (my sister-in-law’s husband’s father). He may have been peripheral, geneaologically speaking, but he was a sweet old man and he will be sorely missed as he was dearly loved.

R.I.P. Mr Herman Talley!

Hawaiian Shirt Friday, A Brief Hello!

Hawaiian shirt and Goth.

Hawaiian shirt and Goth. Two great tastes that go good together.

You can celebrate it, hate it, or berate it, but the tradition of “Casual Friday”, better known as “Hawaiian Shirt Friday” is ingrained into the corporate consciousness.

Wait. That may be an oxymoron.

Hate it if you feel it is like your boss is forcing you to smile. The happy employee who belittles himself/herself/itself? to the amusement of the corporate masters. Dance, little man, dance!

“You have been dominated”, thunders a disembodied voice from the blinding light eminating from the corner office, “Now wear this or I will frown uponst thee”.

Okey dokey.

Love it for a brief change from bland colors, restrictive medieval clothing, and not needing to change when you go out after work on Friday.  It’s a head start on the weekend.
