Hawaii finally got around to promoting its legendary surfers. Can’t think of a better feel-good message for Hawaiian shirt Friday. From the article…

“The first order of business at the Hawaii State Legislature on Tuesday wasn’t about declining tourism or mass transit.

Instead, surfing made its way to the floor. The Senate and House of Representatives honored nine surfing icons at the Capitol. Buffalo Keaulana, Ben Aipa, Clyde Aikau, Mitchell Alapa, Derek and Michael Ho were in attendance, and received certificates of appreciation. They donned the traditional Island “formal wear” of Aloha shirts, shoes, and blazers for the momentous occasion, as their loved ones looked on from the upper balcony of the Senate.  More

I would rather be surfing on a Friday right now, what about you? What would you rather be doing right now, say money was not an issue and you didn’t need to work, where and what would you be doing?

It’s a nice mental vacation.

Had to have a post at an article today, there was a wonderful lady with a huge education and bigger smile who has written a great article on over-the-top casual wear.  This from a woman with a huge publishing career on inter-gender communications!  Here’s her article

And on the faaaaar opposite end of the brainpower spectrum, I found Rory Cooper at the Daily Caller writing about how casual attire at the White House means that there is no dignity in the presidency. One extreme to the other, no thinking in between. “I’m tired”  to  “I have leukemia” in one gigantically absurdist delusional leap.

“Hello? Earth to Rorster: the president’s from Hawaii. No prigs like you in Hawaii”. (Knock on forhead, ongoing tuning-fork style ringing tone eminates).

This weirdo doesn’t get a link.

If money was not an issue, surfing isn’t my thing, but I would sincerely love to be hopping and exploring the Hawaiian islands for sure. I want my own boat or copter and ropes and big fluffy bed most nights. Yeah, the world would revolve around me. Now that is a nice mental vacation. ‘Course it ain’t gonna happen. Not that way.

Elsewhere, the accepted “presidential attire” and all the “shoulds” that surround it boils my blood. I want to see the next meeting of the ex-presidents and their wives all meet at the Grand Canyon in July wearing formal attire: suits, ties, pants, long sleeve blazers, pantyhose and heels. Michelle can wear her shorts.
